Clermont, FL- The Philadelphia University softball team (2-2) split in their second day of action down south, falling in a delayed 12 inning 9-7 loss to Franklin Pierce University and then winning the nightcap 1-0 over NYIT.
The contest vs. FPU, originally slated for an early morning game, was pushed back until 1:30 p.m. In that game junior pitcher Ali Schmidt gave up six hits and tallied three errors on passed balls that resulted in runs.
Against NYIT, the winning run was scored with help from junior catcher Katie Renner who drove in freshman Meaghan Lewis in the 5th inning. On the rubber, Schmidt tossed a one hitter and struck out seven batters.
Up next for the Rams are St. Michael's College and the University of Bridgeport on Tuesday (3/15).
