Softball 2011 Season Highlights
Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University softball team (18-21, 12-14 CACC) saw their season come to an end in two regular season losses to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) top-ranked Concordia College Clippers on May 3rd.
Making the CACC All-Conference second team was junior pitcher Ali Schmidt, who went 14-12 on the rubber in 179 innings pitched. She led the conference through the regular season with 214 strikeouts and also notched six shutout games.
Impact players included freshman leftfielder Devin Griglik, who led the team in batting (.318), hits (41), triples (3) and stolen bases (5-5). Junior catcher/third baseman Katie Renner led the squad in RBIs (27) and doubles (10) while hitting .287. Junior catcher/outfielder Alison Glaser batted .298 on the year with 34 hits and nine RBIs. A rookie led the squad in homers this season, infielder Meaghan Lewis who knocked four out of the park while batting .287.
Head Coach John Kelly reached and surpassed 100 wins this season on April 11th, 2011 in a 5-0 shutout at Holy Family University. His overall record at PhilaU is 107-152
The Rams are tentatively scheduled to kick-off the 2012 spring season on Wednesday (3/6) in a home doubleheader vs. West Chester University, time TBD.
