ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The Philadelphia University softball team was swept by Molloy in a non-conference doubleheader Sunday in the Dean G. Skelos Complex. The game scores were 11-1, in five innings, and 7-4.
In the second game, Philadelphia (10-27) got on the board in the fourth on a RBI groundout by third baseman Andrea Schell that made the score 6-1.
Molloy (35-8) got a run back in the bottom of the fifth on an error.
Left fielder Emma Haley and Martin had two hits each for Philadelphia.
The Lions had two hits each, including first baseman Carla Campagna who hit a solo home run as part of a five-run bottom of the third. Left fielder Ryan Quick had one base hit, a two-run single in the third.
Megan Butterworth was the winning pitcher after throwing three shutout innings, allowing just one walk. Kelley Jansen earned the save, surrendering two hits in two innings.
Samantha Abromavage took the loss after giving up six runs on seven hits.
Relief pitcher Nicole Troisi knocked in Philadelphia's lone run in game one with a sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth.
Molloy scored its 11 runs in the first three innings, including six in the third. Third baseman Haley Calderwood went 1-for-2 with four RBIs, two coming on a homer in the third. Center fielder Jeana Frey had a 2-for-3 game and knocked in two runs.
Lewis had Philadelphia's lone hit.
Jansen was the winner after three no-hit innings and striking out five.
Lady Ram starter Kaitlin MacQueen gave up 11 runs, nine earned, on eight hits in 2.2 innings.
Philadelphia heads to Delaware for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader at Goldey-Beacom Tuesday, April 17 at 3:30 p.m.
