Bloomfield Downs Lady Rams in Non-Conference Action

The Deacons of Bloomfield College earned an 80-70 victory over Philadelphia University in a non-CACC affair at the Gallagher Center. The game was tied 36-36 at halftime, as the Lady Rams were lead by sophomore center Jess Romano's 14 first-half points on perfect shooting from both the field (5-5, 100%) and free-throw line (4-4, 100%), en route to a game-high total of 26 points. The competitive first half featured five ties and five lead changes.
In the second frame, Bloomfield began to pressure Philadelphia University, forcing 19 total Lady Rams turnovers in the contest. Deacons freshman guard Ashley Crenshaw scored 15 of her team-high 25 points in the second period, leading four Bloomfield players who netted double-digits in the game. Senior guard Ciera Darby added 11 points, senior forward Marissa Franklin added 12 and freshman center Tiffany McDaniel contributed 14 points and six rebounds for the victorious Deacons.
In addition to Romano, the Lady Rams were paced by junior guard Amanda Brennan's 19 points (including five three-point field goals) and four assists, and senior forward Ashley Webster (pictured) notched another double-double with 21 points (including 11-12 from the free-throw line), 10 rebounds and three steals.
The win lifts the Deacons to 3-2 on the year and the loss evens the Lady Rams' record at 3-3. The game between the two Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference foes will not count in the league standings, as CACC basketball this season is structured in a two-division format. The Lady Rams compete in the South Division while Bloomfield is a member of the North. Each team in the conference plays a home-and-home with their division partners and then one league game annually (rotating sites from year-to-year) with teams from the opposite division. The Lady Rams will travel to Bloomfield for a conference matchup on Monday, January 7, 2008 at 6:00 p.m.
Their next game will be this Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 12:30 p.m. at the Gallagher Center as the Lady Rams host Nyack College in CACC competition. It is part of a women's/men's doubleheader, as the Philadelphia University men's basketball team will play their game with the Nyack Warriors following the conclusion of the women's game.
