Amanda Brennan, Ashley Webster Guide Lady Rams to Home Victory

Junior guard Amanda Brennan poured in a team-high 19 points while senior forward Ashley Webster added 17 points and a career-high 19 rebounds, leading the Philadelphia University women's basketball team to 69-50 win over Georgian Court University in women's basketball action on Thursday night.  The win improves the Lady Rams to 17-8 overall and 10-6 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) while the visiting Lions fall to 7-19 overall and 4-13 in league play.

In addition to Brennan and Webster, sophomore guard Nina Brascetta added a career-high 14 points to go along with three steals as Philadelphia University picked up its fourth consecutive victory.  Georgian Court was paced by junior forward Patricia Foley with 21 points and ten rebounds in a losing effort.

After trailing 8-7 with four minutes gone in the contest, the Lady Rams broke things open with a 24-4 run over the course of the next ten minutes, taking a 31-12 lead.  The run was fueled by the play of Webster, who had seven of the points during the stretch, and Brascetta, who connected on a pair of three-point field goals.  The Lions did not go quietly into the night, however, closing the half with a 10-4 burst to pull within 38-25 after 20 minutes of play.

In the second half, Brennan found her stroke early, hitting a pair of three-point field goals on back-to-back possessions as the Lady Rams regained control.  Despite eight second-half points from sophomore forward Tiffani Brown, the Lions would get no closer than 14 points in the final frame, a 50-36 deficit with 14:01 remaining, before falling by the ultimate 19-point margin.

The Lady Rams will be back in action at home on Saturday, February 23rd, hosting Caldwell College in their final home game of the season.  Tip-off with the Cougars is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the Gallagher Center.
