Lady Rams Get Road Win 62-47 at Chestnut Hill
Philadelphia, PA- Junior center Jess Romano (Horsham, PA/ Hatboro-Horsham) had a game-high 18 points and added 12 rebounds as the Philadelphia University Lady Rams (17-8, 12-4 CACC) cruised to a 62-47 win on the road at Chestnut Hill College (6-19, 4-12 CACC) on Tuesday night.
The Lady Rams outshot the Griffins (42%-31%), while CHC held the advantage on the boards (43-30). The Griffins also turned the ball over nearly twice as much as PhilaU (19-10).
PhilaU led early in the first half until CHC's Jenna Beck hit a jumper at 12:55 to give the Griffins an 8-7 lead. Both teams went scoreless for the next four minutes until a layup by PU sophomore Ashley Gaskins (Harrisburg, PA/ Central Dauphin) gave the Lady Rams the 9-8 advantage. Gaskins had 10 points and seven boards in the contest.
Junior guard Nina Brascetta (Philadelphia, PA/ Archbishop Ryan) nailed one of her four treys on the night at 5:33 to give PhilaU back the lead for good at 16-14, as PhilaU went into halftime leading 26-22. Brascetta had 14 points, four assists and two steals on the night.
PhilaU sophomore guard Stephanie Agger (N. Cape May, NJ/ Lower Cape May) had one of her six steals just a minute into the second stanza to help her club open with a 6-0 run. Agger added 13 points in the game.
The Lady Rams surged ahead by as many as 19 on a Romano layup at 1:58 remaining, and finished the CACC match-up on top 62-47.
PhilaU will play next on Tuesday, February 24th at Holy Family at 6:00 p.m.
