Philadelphia University’s Romano Named ESPN Academic All-American

Academic All-America Teams

Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University women's basketball junior center Jessica Romano (Horsham, PA/ Hatboro-Horsham) has been voted onto the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America third-team (University Division), announced today.

Romano- also a two-time ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District selection, has a 3.9 GPA as a finance major at PhilaU.  She is currently ranked #30 in NCAA Division II in points per game (18.5) and #12 in rebounds per game (11.0) this season.  She leads the Lady Ram's in both categories.   

The Pennsylvania native has had a whirlwind season, being named WBCA ‘Player of the
Month' Honorable Mention in December, ECAC and CACC ‘Player of the Week', and a 3x CACC 'Honorable Mention'.  She also scored her 1,000th point in a 21 point, 10 rebound
performance vs. Millersville. 

Romano's Lady Rams are 17-8 and 12-4 in the CACC and have already clinched a playoff spot in the CACC Tournament.  PhilaU travels to Holy Family tonight for a 6 p.m. match-up, but the team needs to win their final regular-season game at Caldwell (2/27) to secure home court advantage for the CACC quarterfinal contest (3/2) at 7:00 p.m.
