Women’s Basketball Picked #20 in the Country in Preseason Poll

DII Bulletin Preseason Poll

Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University women's basketball team will start the 2009-10 season as a nationally respected team, having been picked by the DII Bulletin as #20th in the preseason poll and a honorable mention in the USA Today ESPN Division II Coaches' Poll.  The Lady Rams earned the ranking after qualifying for the NCAA Tournament last season after winning the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship.

Holy Family was the only other CACC team to get a nod for the USA Today poll receiving the #17th rank.

Head Coach Tom Shirley is back for his 21st year, along with Daktronics/NCAA Division II All-American candidate senior center Jessica Romano (Horsham, PA/ Hatboro-Horsham).

The team lost just one starter and will be in contention for a second-straight CACC crown.  Action begins on Sunday (11/15) at NYIT, while the home-opener is set for Wednesday (12/2) vs. West Chester at 6:00 p.m. in the Gallagher Athletic Center.
