Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University Lady Rams (11-10, 9-4 CACC) stayed above .500 with a 62-59 victory over visiting Chestnut Hill College (3-19, 2-12 CACC) on Tuesday evening at the Gallagher Athletic Center. PhilaU senior center Jessica Romano (Horsham, PA/ Hatboro-Horsham) recorded her eighth double-double of the season with a game-high 25 points and 11 rebounds.
The Lady Rams held a slim 27-25 lead at halftime, but went on a 12-2 run in the second half to pull ahead 45-34 at the 11:28 mark. In that sequence, PhilaU senior forward Kate Brennan (Stratford, NJ/ Sterling) knocked down one of her three treys on the night, finishing with 13 points and three assists.
The Griffins responded with a 9-2 spurt of their own to get within one (52-51) at 4:52, but 9-10 free-throw shooting in the second stanza by the Lady Rams kept the home team on top.
CHC was led by Lindsay Alexander's 13 points and five boards.
PhilaU freshman forward Kristen Blye (Chester Springs, PA/ Downingtown East) had a clutch layup with 40 seconds to go and then a key block to give the Lady Rams back possession as time ran out, holding on for a 62-59 win.
