Women’s Basketball Names Captains- Seniors Gaskins & Brennan

Philadelphia, PA- Women’s Basketball Head Coach Tom Shirley has announced the Lady Ram team captains for the 2010-11 season. Senior forwards Ashley Gaskins (Harrisburg, PA/ Central Dauphin) and fifth-year Kate Brennan (Stratford, NJ/ Sterling) will helm the squad.

“Ashley and Kate bring a wealth of veteran experience that will give our team the guidance they need,” said Shirley.

Brennan, who returns for her fifth-year in 2010-11, averaged a team second-best 14.4 ppg last season. She led the Lady Rams in several categories, including three-point percentage (38%), free-throws (86%) and steals (47).

Gaskins, who started in 18 contests and saw action in 27 last season, averaged 6.3ppg. She pulled down a team second-most 5.2 rpg and had 36 swipes.

The Lady Rams finished 2008-09 with a 15-13 overall record, 13-6 in the CACC, led by senior center Jessica Romano who averaged a team-high 17.1 ppg/9.0 rpg. The squad kicks off action on Thursday (11/18) vs. Washington Adventist, time to be determined.
