Local Players Named PhilaU Womens Hoops Captains for 2009-10 Season
Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University senior women's basketball players Jessica Romano (Horsham, PA/ Hatboro-Horsham) and Nina Brascetta (Philadelphia, PA/ Archbishop Ryan) have been named team captains for the 2009-10 season, announced Head Coach Tom Shirley.
Both student-athletes hail from the Philadelphia area and are prominent members of the defending Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Lady Ram squad.
Romano, a center, was a NCAA Division II All-American candidate in 2009 and led her team with 18.6ppg/11.0rpg last season. She earned CACC All-Tournament MVP, and was dubbed Daktronics East All-Region 1st Team, WBCA DII ‘National Player of the Month' Honorable Mention, Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Region, and ECAC All-Star 2nd Team, among other honors.
Brascetta, a point guard, saw action in every single game last season for PhilaU. She averaged 5.6ppg and led the team with 3.2 assists per game. The Philadelphia native had 13 points in the CACC Championship win over Wilmington University.
