Wooding and Agger Named 2011-12 Team Captains

Philadelphia, PA Philadelphia University women's basketball Head Coach Tom Shirley announced the team captains for the 2011-12 season. Junior forward/center Christine Wooding and junior guard Stephanie Agger will lead the squad in their senior years. 

Wooding returns to the Rams after starting in 27 games last season. She earned a reputation both on the offensive and defensive side of the court leading the team in categories including field goal percentage (.551), rebounds (6.6 rpg) and blocked shots (1.9 blk/g). She had a 'perfect' game on December 19th, going 8-8 from field goal range and 4-4 from the free-throw line to score a game-high 20 points in a 79-27 crushing of Wilmington

Also making 27 starting appearances for the Rams in 2010-11, Agger boasted the leading number of steals (averaging 2.2 per game) and assists (averaging 4.3 per game). She held one of the top scoring positions for the team notching an average of 12.4 ppg. Her efforts at the charity stripe proved well, averaging 3.8 made per game behind Wooding's 3.9.

Women's basketball finished the 2010-11 season with an overall record of 15-12, playing to 11-8 in the CACC. The team was led by the efforts of senior forward Kate Brennan who averaged 14.5 ppg/ 6.8 rpg. Coach Shirley and the Rams kickoff the 2011-12 season at the Gallagher Center on Saturday, November 12th as they host C.W. Post College at 2:00 p.m.
