Wooding honored again; Earned fourth CACC player of the week award of the season
NEW HAVEN, Conn. –Philadelphia University forward Christine Wooding was tabbed as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's (CACC) women's basketball player of the week for the fourth time this season by the conference office Monday.
Wooding's fourth CACC player of the week award ties the conference record for the most in a season. Goldey-Beacom's Toni Jones (2007-08) and Cherrise Graham (2006-07) and University of the Sciences' Leah Shumoski (2004-05) also won the player of the week award four times.
Last week Wooding 20.6 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.3 blocks while shooting 68.5 percent in three Lady Ram wins. She recorded double-doubles in victories over Chestnut Hill (18 points, 11 rebounds) and Washington Adventist (25 points, 10 rebounds). Against Bloomfield she scored 19 points.
This season Wooding is leading the conference in field goal percentage (.552), second in points per game (18.8), rebounds per game (11.3), blocks (46), and fourth in free throw percentage (.829). Nationally she is fifth in double-doubles (11), 11th in rebounding and 15 in blocks.
Philadelphia (14-4, 8-1 CACC) hosts the defending CACC champion Goldey-Beacom College Thursday, Jan. 26 at 6 p.m.
