Mike West enters his first season as a member of the Philadelphia University women's basketball coaching staff in 2011-12.

Prior to the upcoming season, West served as boy's junior varsity head coach and varsity assistant coach at Upper Perkiomen High School after serving two years as assistant coach for the junior varsity and varsity boy's squads at North Penn High School.

West, who is a graduate of North Penn High School and attended Lebanon Valley College, has a wealth of playing experience as well. At North Penn, as team captain in 2001-02, West led his squad to the Suburban One League Championship title. At Lebanon Valley, he was a four year Varsity letter winner, a member of the 2004 ECAC Southeast Regional Championship team, and made the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic Team. 

In addition to coaching at North Penn and Upper Perkiomen, for two years, West was responsible for the scouting of opponents and for college recruitment of high school players. 

West resides in Lansdale, PA and is currently a substitute teacher in the North Penn School District and Upper Perkiomen School District.
