Two-Sport Standout Brooke Woodland Named NCAA Postgraduate Scholar
Senior Brooke Woodland, one of the top two-sport standouts in the history of Philadelphia University athletics, was recently awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Woodland, a native of West Grove, Pa., was given the scholarship for her work in the classroom as well as her accomplishments on the field of play and she will stay at the University next year in pursuit of her MBA.

Woodland Leads Six Student-Athletes as Academic All-Area Selections
Senior Brooke Woodland was named the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women's Lacrosse Player of the Year on Sunday, in voting done by area Sports Information Directors. Woodland, who was recognized for her stellar season both on the field and in the classroom, was one of six Philadelphia University student-athletes named to the various Academic All-Area teams.

Senior Shannon Shippey Garners ECC All-Conference Accolades
Senior attacker Shannon Shippey was named East Coast Conference (ECC) second-team All-Conference in voting done by he league's head coaches. Shippey was the lone Lady Ram selected to the All-Conference squad.

Lady Rams Close 2008 Season with 21-7 Loss at C.W. Post
Senior Allison Kessler (pictured), playing in the final collegiate game of her career, tallied three goals and two assists, but it wasn't enough as the Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team dropped a 21-7 decision to C.W. Post on Sunday afternoon in Brookville, N.Y. With the loss, the Lady Rams close the season with a 12-5 record under first-year Head Coach Jenn Devinney.

Seniors Shippey, Bornhorst Guide Lady Rams to Win in Home Finale
Seniors Shannon Shippey (pictured) and Maggie Bornhorst registered seven points and six points, respectively, helping the Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team to a 20-7 win over Dominican College in the Lady Rams' home finale for 2008. The triumph improves Head Coach Jenn Devinney's team to 12-4 overall on the season entering its final contest of the season, at nationally-ranked C.W. Post on Sunday, May 4th.

Dowling Snaps Lady Rams' Four-Game Winning Streak
The visiting Golden Lions from Dowling College, in their first season of varsity women's lacrosse play, improved to 9-5 overall and 3-3 in the East Coast Conference (ECC) with a 15-9 win over the Lady Rams today at Ravenhill Field. Philadelphia University drops to 11-4 in all games and 2-3 in the ECC. The Lady Rams trailed 11-3 at halftime and never overcame an opening Golden Lions' barrage which saw the visitors score the first nine goals of the contest. Senior midfielder Brooke Woodland (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove; pictured) led Philadelphia University with three goals, eight ground balls and four forced turnovers in the losing cause.

Allison Kessler Named East Coast Conference/Baden Co-Player of the Week for April 21-27, 2008
Senior midfielder Allison Kessler (Burtonsville, Md./Springbrook; pictured) has been tabbed by the East Coast Conference as Baden Co-Player of the Week for games played between April 21-27, 2008. Kessler notched 14 points (8g, 6a) and eight draw controls in a 3-0 week for the Lady Rams. She scored the game-winner in a 24-12 win at Chestnut Hill last Wednesday.

Senior Trio Powers Lady Rams Past Griffins
Senior midfielder Maggie Bornhorst (pictured) tallied six goals and her classmates and fellow midfielders Brooke Woodland and Allison Kessler netted four apiece as the Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team improved to 9-3 on the 2008 regular season with a 24-12 win at Chestnut Hill College in a game played at Victory Fields in Plymouth Meeting, Pa.

Kessler, Shippey Lead Lady Rams to Victory at Dominican College
Seniors Allison Kessler (pictured) and Shannon Shippey scored four goals and three goals, respectively, in leading the Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team to a 19-5 win at Dominican College on Sunday afternoon. Shippey also added a team-high four assists and Kessler added two helpers for the Lady Rams, who improved to 8-3 overall with the victory.

Tyler Mentzer, Kyle Noonan and Shannon Shippey Earn Weekly Conference and Region Honors
Three Philadelphia University student-athletes were honored by their respective conferences for performances during the week of April 7-13, 2008. From the baseball team, second baseman Tyler Mentzer (shown) was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week; while Kyle Noonan took home CACC Co-Pitcher of the Week accolades. Shannon Shippey then collected Player of the Week honors in women's lacrosse from the East Coast Conference (ECC). In addition, Mentzer was also tabbed as Player of the Week by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC).

Lady Rams Win Third Straight in Nine-Goal Defeat of Wildcats
The Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team earned their third straight triumph to improve to 7-2 overall on the season in today's 17-8 win over visiting Wilmington University. Senior midfielders Maggie Bornhorst (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) and Brooke Woodland (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove; pictured) each scored three goals as the Lady Rams built a commanding 10-3 halftime advantage by netting five of the first six tallies of the contest.

Shippey Registers Four Goals, Four Assists in Lady Rams Road Victory
Senior midfielder Shannon Shippey tallied four goals and four assists in leading the Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team to a 19-7 victory at St. Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Lady Rams improve to 6-2 overall on the season including a 1-1 record in the East Coast Conference (ECC).

Senior Duo Helps Lady Rams to Comeback Win at Georgian Court
Seniors Shannon Shippey and Maggie Bornhorst scored six points and five points, respectively, helping the Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team to a 14-12 victory at Georgian Court University on April 10th. The Lady Rams, who improve to 5-2 with the victory, overcame a two-goal deficit with just over ten minutes remaining, scoring five of the final six goals for the win.

The Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team dropped its second contest of the season, a 12-11 heartbreaker to visiting Molloy College on April 5th at home. The setback drops the Lady Rams to 4-2 overall on the season including an 0-1 mark in the East Coast Conference (ECC).

Lady Rams Win Third Straight with 23-7 Shutdown of Kutztown
The Philadelphia University women’s lacrosse team won their third straight outing and ran their season record to 4-1 today with a convincing 23-7 victory at Kutztown University in Kutztown, Pa. In the win over the Golden Bears, senior midfielder Brooke Woodland (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove; pictured) led the attack for the Lady Rams with a career-high six goals.

Bornhorst Joins 100-Goal Club; Lady Rams Top Huskies
Senior midfielder Maggie Bornhorst (pictured) scored four goals, including the 100th of her stellar career, on Sunday as the Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team registered a 13-9 win over Bloomsburg University at Ravenhill Field. With her milestone goal, Bornhorst becomes just the 11th player in school history to reach the plateau as the Lady Rams improve to 3-1 overall on the season.

Seniors Marissa Wisniewski, Maggie Bornhorst (pictured) and Shannon Shippey combined for 13 points, helping the Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team to a 17-8 win at Wilmington University on Saturday afternoon. Wisniewski paced the team with five points, collecting two goals and three assists, while Bornhorst and Shippey netted four goals apiece as the Lady Rams improve to 2-1 on the season.

Women's Lacrosse Posts Win in Season Opener with St. Anselm College
Senior midfielder Allison Kessler and sophomore midfielder Kathleen Maurer registered four goals apiece for Philadelphia University, leading the Lady Rams to an 18-7 win over St. Anselm (N.H.) College in women' lacrosse action on Sunday afternoon. The win, which comes in the Lady Rams' season opener, gave first-year Head Coach Jenn Devinney her first career victory with the program. After the visiting Hawks took a 1-0 lead on a goal by junior attacker Michaela Rocha less than a minute in the contest, Devinney's squad would score four of the next five goals to take a 4-2 lead midway through the opening frame. Freshman midfielder/attacker Emily Traicoff narrowed the Philadelphia University gap to 4-3, but the Lady Rams responded with seven straight goals including three by Maurer during the stretch.

Magee and Woodland Honored by Philadelphia SportsWriters Association
Men’s Basketball Head Coach Herb Magee '63 (shown at the podium on Mon.) and two-sport student-athlete Brooke Woodland ’08 were honored at the prestigious Philadelphia SportsWriters Association (PSWA) Awards Dinner Jan. 28 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cherry Hill, N.J.

Philadelphia University Names Jenn Devinney Women's Lacrosse Coach
Philadelphia University Director of Athletics Tom Shirley has announced the hiring of Jenn Devinney as Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach, effective immediately. Devinney, a former player at Temple University, succeeds Christy Malone, who last week took the reins of the women’s lacrosse program at NCAA Division I St. Bonaventure University in St. Bonaventure, N.Y.
