Lax Wins 18-5 in Regular Season Finale, Will Face Chestnut Hill in CACC Semifinals

Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team (8-7, 8-2 CACC) picked up an 18-5 victory in their final regular season game over the Dominican College Chargers (3-10, 2-8 CACC) on Wednesday afternoon.  Junior midfielder Kathleen Maurer (Rochester, NY/ Our Lady of Mercy) had a game-high five points, including four goals. 

The Lady Rams went up 4-0 early in the first half, as the team held a 48-18 shot advantage for the game.  Both Maurer and freshman midfielder Taylor Peltzer (Holland, PA/ Archbishop Wood) had one goal apiece in the first PhilaU binge.  Peltzer would finish with three goals on the day.

DC's Ashley Ordemann made it 4-1 with the Charger's first goal at 20:42 but the Lady Rams would outscore DC 5-2 for the remainder of the period to lead 9-3 at halftime.  Ordemann led DC with three goals in the contest.

Phila exploded for nine unanswered goals in the second half until DC put two scores into the net in the final six minutes to give the Lady Rams an 18-5 win.

Junior goalie and recently minted CACC ‘Player of the Year' Katherine Sullivan (Mt. Laurel, NJ/ Lenape) made 11 saves for PhilaU, while DC's Lindsey Grundfast had 22 stops for the Chargers.

PhilaU returns to action at the CACC Semifinals as the #2 seed and will face #3 seeded Chestnut Hill College on Saturday (4/25) at Georgian Court University at 3:00 p.m.  The winner will advance to the CACC Championship on Sunday (4/26) at GCU, held at 1:00 p.m.
