Women's Lacrosse Season '09 Highlights
Philadelphia, PA- The 2008-09 Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team (10-7, 8-2 CACC) did something no other Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) lax team had done-won a CACC Championship. The Lady Rams took the inaugural CACC title in the first year the conference sponsored the sport, led by a first-year collegiate coach George Chis-Luca.
The Championship win was an 11-9 victory over Georgian Court University- who the Lady Rams had not beaten in two earlier meetings during the regular season. Freshman Caribeth Shappell was named Tournament MVP, while sophomore midfielders Michelle O'Hanlon and Danielle Coffaro, along with freshman attacker Taylor Peltzer were named All-Tournament Team.
Several other PhilaU student-athletes were named to the CACC All-Conference teams, including ‘Player of the Year' and 1st-team All-Conference junior goalie Katherine Sullivan- who had a 7-2 record and .511 save percentage for PhilaU. Both O'Hanlon and Peltzer also made the 1st team, while Shappell was named 2nd Team and junior attacker Lauren Woodie earned ‘Honorable Mention' accolades.
