WLax CACC All-Conference Released, 5 Lady Rams Make Cut
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (April 28, 2010) - Junior midfielder Danielle Niccoli of Wilmington University was selected as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Year, as the All-Conference team was announced Wednesday. Holy Family University’s Stephanie McNesby was named Rookie of the Year, while Georgian Court University’s Mike Migliorisi was tabbed Coach of the Year. GCU and Post University tied in voting for the Team Sportsmanship Award.
Niccoli, a junior from Sparrow’s Point, Md., ranks third in the conference in assists with 1.59 (27 total) and points per-game with 4.12 (70 total) and stands ninth with 2.53 goals per-contest (43 total). She is also the conference leader in draw controls per-game with 3.62. She recorded her 100th career goal earlier this season and holds the school record for career draw controls. She has recorded 12 multiple-goal games thus far in 2010 and eight multi-assist contests. Niccoli was also a first team All-Conference pick last season.
McNesby, a midfielder from Philadelphia, Pa., was tabbed Rookie of the Year after being named CACC Rookie of the Week a league-high four times this season. She has started all 15 games for the Tigers and recorded 29 goals and eight assists for a total of 37 total points, which stands third on her team. She ranks third on the team with 26 ground balls. McNesby was also a second team All-CACC pick and was one of only two freshmen to be named All-Conference.
Mike Migliorisi of Georgian Court was voted Coach of the Year for his work with the Lions. They enter the conference tournament as the No. 1 seed after going undefeated in conference play (12-0) for the second consecutive season. Migliorisi’s team leads the conference in goals, assists, ground balls, points and shot percentage for the season.
Accompanying Niccoli on the All-CACC First Team are teammates Klaudia Furman and Kory Webster, both sophomore defenders. Georgian Court has six first team selections, led by senior goalkeeper Christine Latteri (.586 save percentage). She is joined by teammates Angelica Gero (senior defender), Natalie Bermudez (senior midfielder), Lauren Conaty (junior midfielder), Laura Housel (senior attacker) and Ryan McGrath (junior attacker).
The Glass twins of Chestnut Hill College were both selected to the First Team. Carley Glass leads the conference in points (5.62) and ground balls (3.88), while Maryanne Glass leads in goals per game (4.19) and total goals (67). Kathleen Maurer of Philadelphia, who leads the CACC in assists per-game (1.62) rounds out the first team selections.
