2010 Women’s Lacrosse Highlights

Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University women’s lacrosse team ended the year with an overall record of 7-11 and a 6-6 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) in 2010. The Lady Rams’ season came to an end in the CACC Tournament Semifinals vs. #1 seed Georgian Court University. The #4 Lady Rams fell 17-9 to bring their run to a close.

Standouts for the PhilaU squad included senior midfielder Kathleen Maurer and sophomore midfielder Caribeth Shappell, who led the team offensively.

Maurer was awarded All-Conference 1st Team leading the team with 73 points on the year and played in all 18 games for PhilaU.  She was named CACC All-Conference for her season-long performance.  Shappell received CACC ‘Player of the Week’ honors earlier in the year before ending the season early due to illness.  She tallied 41 points including 18 goals on the year and was named CACC All-Conference 2nd Team.

Junior midfielder Jennifer Sica was also named to the CACC All-Conference 2nd Team after playing in 18 games and racking up 12 points.

One other Lady Ram, senior attacker Lauren Woodie, was named All-Conference ‘Honorable Mention’ Lauren Woodie.  She also garnered Team MVP Award from Coach Chis-Luca.

CACC All-Tournament Team accolades went to sophomore midfielder Kalin Hodel and senior defender Andi Saracco.
