Lady Rams Lacrosse Look to have a Repeat Season
Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University Lady Rams lacrosse team kicks off action for the 2010 season at home on March 7th vs. St. Anselm College at 12:00 p.m. The Lady Rams will be defending their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship in the first year the conference sponsored the sport. The team went 10-7, 8-2 in CACC last season.
With second year coach, George Chis-Luca, goals for the team include winning a regular season title and another CACC Championships.
"We are focusing on playing as a team and dominating our opponents, start to finish," said Chis-Luca.
The Lady Rams are returning key players including senior captain and attacker Lauren Woodie who had 19 goals, 27 points and 30 ground balls last season. Returning CACC ‘Rookie of the Week' (2x) and 1st Team All-Conference Taylor Peltzer will lead offense returning from a 41 goals/ 48 points 2009 season. Junior Jenny Sica returns from scoring 15 goals/ 17 points last season. Kelly Dallas will return to offensive from 13 starts and 16 played in games last season.
Two key newcomers to look out for are Taylor Boyle looking to have a key offensive season and walk-on Rebecca Cox.
Impact players for the team will be returning CACC ‘Player of the Year' goalie and captain Kat Sullivan, who racked up 199 saves last season. Senior captain Kathleen Maurer returns at midfield tallying 19 goals, 26 points, and 17 forced turnovers last season. Young leader Caribeth Shappell at midfield returns from having 18 goals, 41 points and 23 assist during 2009 season.
