Lakewood, NJ- The Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team (3-4, 3-1 CACC) suffered their first conference loss on Wednesday afternoon 19-5 at Georgian Court University (4-4, 4-0 CACC). The Rams were led by junior attacker Taylor Peltzer with three goals, and junior attacker/midfielder Caribeth Shappell with two goals and an assist.
GCU was led by Ryan McGrath's 10 points (five goals, five assists).
The closest the Rams ever got was trailing 2-1 at 22:32 in the first half on Shappell's first goal. GCU would tick off five unanswered goals after that to lead 7-1, until Peltzer interrupted with her first score at 15:21.
PhilaU trailed 12-3 at the half.
Shappell and Peltzer would add one more goal each in the second half, as freshman Carli DiCioccio assisted on two goals on the night. GCU racked up seven more netters in the final stanza to defeat PhilaU 19-5.
In goal, rookie keeper Cory Lombardo had seven saves in a complete game, while GCU's Jennifer Molzon had six stops in 60 minutes.
The Rams host Post University this Saturday (4/2) in their next contest at 1 p.m. on Ravenhill Field.
