Women’s Lacrosse Awards Roll in, Two Named Rookie All-American
Philadelphia, PA- Five Philadelphia University women’s lacrosse players were named to the 2011 USA College Women’s Lacrosse All-Star Team. Highlighting the announcement were two rookies, attacker Emily Ray and midfielder Carli DiCioccio- who were named to the All-American Rookie Team.
Getting a nod on the first team was Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) ‘Player of the Year’ Caribeth Shappell, a junior midfielder for the Rams. She recorded 59 points on the season.
Senior midfielder Jennifer Sica was named to
the second team, while junior attacker Taylor
Peltzer got a third team spot. Ray and DiCioccio
were both on the ‘Honorable Mention’ list as well as
the All-American Rookie Team.
The Rams finished the 2011 season 11-7, 10-2 CACC. Head Coach
George Chis-Luca was named ‘Coach of the Year’ after
leading his team to the CACC Championship for the second year in
his three-year tenure at PhilaU. The Rams fell 13-9 in the
CACC Championship match to Georgian Court
University.
