Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team (11-7, 10-2 CACC) capped another solid year in 2011 with their second Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship appearance in three years.

In the Championship, the #2 seeded Rams fell to #1 seeded Georgian Court University 13-9, a team they had lost to twice earlier in the regular season by scores of 19-5 and 16-6.  On a high note, three players were named to the CACC All-Tournament Team including senior defender Jennifer Sica, junior attacker Taylor Peltzer and sophomore middie Rachel Balint

PhilaU had seven student-athletes named to the CACC All-Conference lists, along with a coaching award.  Head Coach George Chis-Luca was named CACC 'Coach of the Year' and junior midfielder Caribeth Shappell was named CACC 'Player of the Year' after posting 59 points on the season.  She was joined on the first team by Peltzer (team-high 75 points) and Sica (15 points in 18 games).  On the second team were two freshmen: attacker Emily Ray and midfielder Carli DiCioccio.  Finally on the 'Honorable Mention' sheet were juniors midfielder Kalin Hodel and defender Andrea Saracco

Freshman goalie Cory Lombardo made her presence known as she played in all 18 games, racking up 166 saves with a .419 save percentage.   Also in goal was fellow rookie Maggie McCanney, who saw action in two games and made two saves.

The Rams are tentatively scheduled to kick-off the 2012 spring season on Saturday (3/10) vs. current #1 nationally-ranked Adelphi University at home, time TBD.
