PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Attack Kalin Hodel scored a game-high five goals; however, the Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team complete its rally in a 19-15 non-conference loss to visiting Queens (N.Y.) on Ravenhill Field Wednesday afternoon.
The Lady Rams (2-3) trailed 17-9 with 17:31 remaining before making their comeback attempt. Attack Nicole Lijana got the run started with the first of her two goals at the 16:57. Just over two minutes later Hodel made the score 17-11 after taking a pass from midfielder Caribeth Shappell, who finished with six points (two goals, four assists).
The Knights' (3-0) Meghan Monahan temporarily stopped Philadelphia's momentum with her third goal of game with 14:34.
Melissa Montreuil (two goals, one assist) scored the game's final goal with five minutes left.
Peltzer finished the game with three goals and two assists for Philadelphia, while attack Emily Ray scored twice.
Queens' Heather Rosen had a game-high nine points with five goals and four assists. Sarah Boucher recorded three goals and one assist, while Kayleen Kelty had three goals.
In goal Philadelphia's Ellen Wright made 15 saves and had a game-high six ground balls. The Knights Kahli Evans stopped 11 shots and had four ground balls. Queens outshot Philadelphia 47-30.
Philadelphia returns to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play against Dominican (N.Y.) on Saturday, March 24 at noon on Ravenhill Field.
