Lady Rams place four on the 2012 All-CACC women’s lacrosse team
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Philadelphia University's Taylor Peltzer, CariBeth Shappell, Emily Ray and Andrea Saracco were named to the 2012 All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's lacrosse team Monday afternoon. The team was selected by the CACC's seven head coaches.
Peltzer, Shappell and Ray were all selected to the all-CACC first team, while Saracco was tabbed for the second team.
A first team selection for the second straight season, Peltzer is leading the CACC and is 12th in Division II with 82 points. Peltzer's career-high 62 goals place her second in the conference and sixth in D-II, while her 20 assists rank fifth in the CACC. Peltzer is second all-time in Philadelphia University women's lacrosse history with 244 career points and 185 career goals.
Shappell, the 2011 CACC player of the year, sits atop the conference—14th nationally—with a career-best 35 assists. Shappell is the team leader, and fifth in the CACC, with 58 draw controls. She is third on the team with 64 points and fourth with 29 goals. Shappell is the all-time leader at Philadelphia in career assists with 101 and is fourth with 205 career points.
Named to the all-conference second team as a freshman, Ray is first in the CACC—third in D-II—in goals with 68, and second with 76 points. Ray netted her 100th career goal on April 14.
The anchor of the Lady Rams' back-line, Saracco is leading the team, third in the CACC, with 42 ground balls and is second, 12th in the conference, with 14 caused turnovers.
Philadelphia went 8-9 overall and 7-5 in the CACC during the regular season. The Lady Rams are the third seed in the CACC Tournament and face Georgian Court in the semifinal round Saturday, May 5 at 3 p.m.
