WATERBURY, Conn. – The Philadelphia University women's lacrosse team scored the first 11 goals of its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match at Post en route to a 16-5 win Sunday afternoon on LaMoy Field.
The Rams extend their program-best winning streak to 11 as they improve to 11-1 overall and stay perfect in CACC play at 9-0. Philadelphia has won its last 20 CACC regular season matches.
Post is now 4-10 overall, 4-7 against the conference.
Senior midfielder Libby Nichols (Ellicott City, Md./McDonogh) led the Rams with five goals—four coming in the 11-0 run—one assist, six draw controls, three caused turnovers, and two ground balls.
Junior attack Allison Brian (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) contributed a goal in each half, one assist and two ground balls.
(Farmington, Conn./Farmington) all scored once in the first half, while senior attack Emily Ray (Bedminster, N.J./Bernards) and sophomore midfielder Elizabeth Seitzinger (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) found the back of the net in the second half.
Freshman goalkeeper Maria Matteis (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills) made five saves to earn her second win in as many starts (2-0).
Miranda Polaski led the Eagles with three goals, including a free-position goal with 4:45 left in the first half to end the Rams' goal-scoring run, one assist, five ground balls, and four draw controls.
Eryka Baez and Morgan Kanavy added second-half goals for Post.
Kathy Walker posted 14 saves, 10 in the first half, in the Post goal.
The Rams owned advantages in shots (34-17), draw controls (15-7), turnovers (20-11), and ground balls (24-19).
Philadelphia returns home to face Queens (N.Y.) in a non-conference tilt on Wednesday, April 16 at 4 p.m.
