George Chis-Luca is in his fourth season at the helm of the Philadelphia University women’s lacrosse program.
In Chis-Luca’s first three seasons, the Lady Rams have
been one of the top teams in the Central Atlantic Collegiate
Conference (CACC). The team has appeared in all three CACC
championship tournaments and won inaugural conference title in
2009.
Last season Chis-Luca was tabbed as the CACC coach of the year
after leading the Lady Rams to an 11-7 overall record and the
team’s second trip to the conference final. A conference-high
seven players represented Philadelphia University on the All-CACC
team including CACC player of the year Caribeth Shappell.
The Lady Rams have placed 11 different players on the All-CACC
team, including two CACC players of the year—Katherine
Sullivan (2009) and Shappell—in Chis-Luca’s tenure.
Kathryn Maurer was selected to participate in the 2010
Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association
North-South Senior All-Star Game.
Before arriving at Philadelphia University, Chis-Luca was the
head boy’s lacrosse coach at Northern Burlington High School
during the 2007 and 2008 seasons. The Greyhounds posted a 12-5
record in 2008—a 10-win improvement— and won the
division title. He also served as the head JV football coach and
assistant varsity football coach at Northern Burlington from 2006
until 2008.
Chis-Luca, a 2004 graduate from Rowan University—where
he founded the school's ice hockey club in 2001—with a degree
in health and physical education, is a physical education teacher
at the New Grange School in Princeton, N.J. He previously held that
title at Northern Burlington and Ocean Avenue Elementary School. At
Ocean Avenue he was named the teacher of the year.
