PhilaU Rowing Shines at the Knecht Cup
Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University men’s and women’s rowing teams wrapped up a home weekend at the Knecht Cup on the Schuylkill River with excellent results.
The women’s V8 took second-place in the NCAA DII/III Final (6:49.40) just four seconds behind winner Mercyhurst (6:45.90). The team also advanced to the NCAA Division I Petite Final and finished in sixth (7:01.22). Fordham took the race in 6:45.07.
In the men’s V4, the PhilaU team took the title (6:47.27), whizzing in front of the second-place team Mary Washington by five seconds. The men’s V4 also took the Grand Finale title vs. DI competition (6:38.47), outpacing Colgate, Boston College and Temple among others.
In the women’s club four, PhilaU won (8:18.60), besting Pitt for the win.
Next up for both teams will be the Kerr Cup Regatta back on the Schuylkill on Saturday (4/17).
