Rowing Completes Busy Weekend on the Schuylkill River

Philadelphia, PA- The men’s and women’s rowing teams completed a full weekend slate of competition this weekend, first going full tilt at the Kelly and Bergen Cups on the Schuylkill River on Saturday and then the women’s team took part in a the NCAA Division II East Regional on Sunday. 

On Saturday, the PhilaU women’s V8 took fourth place (7.00.1) against all the NCAA Division I schools in the city, as Drexel took the top spot.  The V4 took fourth (7:42.1), while St. Joseph’s took that title.  On the men’s side, the V4 won their race, beating out St. Joseph’s, Drexel and Temple A/B.  The men also competed in the Pair race, taking third (8:02.8).

On Sunday the women and men competed in the NCAA Division II East Regional, held on the lower part of the Schuylkill River near the team’s Whitemarsh Boat Club.

The women’s team took the V4 title (8:04.5), beating out Dowling on open water.  The Lady Rams also finished second in the V8 (6:58.4), just seven seconds behind winner Mercyhurst. 

For the men, the Rams too third in both the V4 (6:44) and V2 (8:24).

Both teams will have this coming weekend off before heading to the prestigious Dad Vail Regatta on May 7th-8th on the Schuylkill.
