Wild, Wild West Blog: Day 4

Friday, May 28th 10:00 PM PST
By: Maureen Agnew'10

To all our fans back in the big east...

Today was a picture perfect day for rowing; the California sun tanning our shoulders as we awaited to begin our journey on the way to victory.

It all began with the heats of the Varsity 8.  Our warm-up down the race course felt good- powerful and smooth and the race-felt similiar.  However, we came up a little short placing third behind Western Washington University and Barry University. We'll get everyone in the reps tomorrow.

It was a different story for the Varsity 4 as they dominated Seattle Pacific securing their spot in the Grand Finals on Sunday. We all couldn't be happier- it's one step closer to a National Championship!  The pair also had a great showing at today's races. Sophomore Megan Gallagher and freshman Lauren Fox finished a strong fifth place racing against DII and DIII teams.

We wrapped up the night at an American eatery with Big Mar (V8 coxswain) and V8 bowseat Lindsey Catov dominating a colossal brownie sundae. A good end to the day.

Now we end the night with a PhilaU ritual...a final pep talk from Coach Chris O'Brien before lights out. So goodnight to the big east and wish us luck tomorrow at our repachage!

xoxo
