Womens Rowing Ends Season in 3rd Place at NCAA Championships
Gold River, CA- The Philadelphia University women’s rowing team wrapped up their 2009-10 season with a third-place overall team finish at the NCAA Championships on Lake Natoma on Sunday morning.
In other news, senior rowers Magdalena Dzierzanowski and Renee Rosaieski made PhilaU rowing history as they were named to the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) Pocock All-America team for the 2010 season. They are the first-ever rowing All-Americans at PhilaU.
“I’m really pleased with the overall increased quality of our program,” said Head Coach Chris O’Brien. “Each year we have grown in terms of talent and depth.”
The Lady Ram’s third-place finish in 2010 is their best yet in program history, as the team took fourth overall last year and fourth as a V8 team in 2007-08.
“This was a great way to end the season and it will motivate the team for next year,” said O’Brien.
In Sunday’s V4 Grand Finale, PhilaU took third (7:56.92) as Western Washington won outright and Florida Tech finished second. The V8 Petite Final was won by PhilaU (6:55.06), beating out Florida Tech by seven seconds. Western Washington took the overall team title, while Seattle Pacific University took the runner-up trophy.
