Women's rowing reaches two finals in Knecht Cup

WEST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. – The Philadelphia University women's rowing team will compete in a pair of grand finals after strong performances by the second varsity four and club eight boats on day one of the Knecht Cup on Mercer Lake Saturday.

In the Women's Second Varsity Four event, Philadelphia finished second in heat one with a time of 7:57.07. The time gave the Rams the seventh and final spot in the grand final that will take place at 10:30 a.m. Philadelphia will occupy lane one and will be joined by Boston College, Alabama, heat one winner UMass, Villanova, Tulsa, and Kansas.

The Rams posted a runner-up time of 6:58.98 in heat one of the Club Eight DI/II to make the final. The second place finish allowed Philadelphia to advance to the grand final—that is slated to go off at 2:30 p.m. Philadelphia will be positioned in lane four and compete against FIT, Pittsburgh, Nova Southeastern, Mercyhurst, and heat one winner Barry.

Philadelphia opened the day with a fifth-place finish in heat one of the Women's Varsity Pair race with a time of 9:10.40. The day concluded with the Rams taking fifth in heat six of the Women's Varsity Eight event, completing the race in 7:07.57.
