PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's rowing varsity 8 team will compete at the NCAA Division II Rowing Championship this weekend at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center in Gold River, Calif.
Competing in the varsity 8 boat for the Rams are: coxswain Lynn Nemeth, Colleen O'Donnell, Rachel Soroka, Amy Robinson, Rachel Tobinus, Julia Higham, Eliza Brooks, Kelsey Fairley, and Maria Soledad Gonzalez-Romero
Philadelphia will be lane three for its heat race on Friday at 2:10 p.m. against Barry and Central Oklahoma. The second heat, scheduled to go off 10 minutes later, consists of Mercyhurst, Humboldt State, and Nova Southeastern. The winner of each heat advances straight to the grand final on Sunday at 1 p.m., while the remaining teams square off in a repechage race on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The top two team in the repechage race will compete in the grand final. The other two teams will row in the petit final on Sunday at 12:48 p.m.
The Rams—who received an at-large spot to get into the championship—are in the national championship for the fourth time in program history, the first since 2010.
