Dunbar Announces Women’s Soccer Captains for Fall Season
Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University Head Women's Soccer Coach George Dunbar has announced the 2009 season tri-captains. The triple threat is comprised of seniors Cari Schenkel (Pitman, NJ/Pitman) and Jill Sokolski (Philadelphia, PA/ Nazareth Academy), along with junior Natalie Vespe (Acto, NJ/ St. Joseph).
Schenkel, a defender, who was a 2007 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) All-Conference second team selection, overcame an early season injury in 2008 to help lead the Lady Rams to the CACC Championship match.
Sokolski, a midfielder, was a keystone for the Lady Ram's midfield in 2008. She started in 22 games and scored three goals.
Vespe, a forward/midfielder, had a team second-best 13 points in 2008. She was named CACC All-Conference ‘Honorable Mention'. She played in all 23 games for PhilaU.
The Lady Rams kick-off the 2009 home season on Thursday, August 27th vs. Millersville at 4:30 p.m. on Ravenhill Field.
