2010 Women’s Soccer Highlights
Philadelphia, PA-The Philadelphia University women's soccer team closed the 2010 season with an overall record of 9-7-3 and a 9-3 record in the CACC. Key matchups for the Rams included a 1-0 shutout in their CACC home opener against Caldwell College (9/18) and a 3-2 overtime victory over Dominican College (10/23). Major contributors to the Rams' squad included:
Rookie forward Janine Cascio, who held the team high goals with eight, was named to the CACC All-Conference Team. She was named 'Rookie of the Week' (10/4) after hitting two goals in games against Wilmington (9/28) and Post (10/2). She finished the season taking 32 shots while having two assists. She notched the game winning shot against Dominican on a cross from Nicole Van Bourgondien, who also held four goals and three assists for the year.
Sophomore forward Trisha Sileo netted five goals for the year with two assists. Her lone goal in a 1-1 double overtime tie vs. Adelphi earned her honorable mention by the CACC (9/8).
Senior midfielder Sara Redka was given honorable mention by the CACC All-Conference Team. She took 41 shots for the Rams while scoring one goal.
Junior defender Erin Walter was honored for the second year in a row by being named to the CoSida's ESPN Academic All-American women's soccer team. Walter ended the season tallying two goals and one assist.
