PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia University women's soccer team will be a top-four seed for the upcoming Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament after the Rams completed its conference schedule with a 4-0 win over Chestnut Hill Tuesday afternoon on Ravenhill Field.
Philadelphia improves to 9-6-1 overall with its fourth straight victory and ends CACC play with an 8-3-1 record. The Rams will be at home for the opening round of the CACC Tournament, which begins on Monday, Oct. 31 at 2 p.m., against an opponent that is still to be determined.
The Rams close out the regular season with a trip to Mercy on Thursday, Oct. 27 at 3:30 p.m.
After scoring five first-half goals in last Saturday's win over Bloomfield, Philadelphia scored three times in the opening 45 minutes against Chestnut Hill (4-11-2, 2-9-1 CACC).
Dena Noiseux (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack) was responsible for Philadelphia's first goal as she located the ball bouncing around in the box, turned away from her defender, and slid the ball past Chestnut Hill keeper Leah Peshkin, who was unable to locate it. Noiseux is up to four goals this season.
Megan Sullivan (West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) reclaimed the team-lead in goals, with her fifth, with a textbook header at the right post to finish a Tessa Nykanen (Royersford, Pa./Spring-Ford) crossing pass from the left corner of the penalty area. Hanna Glass (Spring City, Pa./Owen J. Roberts) found the back of the net for the first time in her career at the 42:29 mark to extend the gap to 3-0.
Parisse Dawkins (Rahway, N.J./Union County Vo-Tech) scored the Rams' second-half goal, her second of the season and second in three matches, at 63:20. Brooke Haden (Freehold, N.J./Colts Neck) played a crossing pass to the right post, where Dawkins tracked it down and shot back across the goal mouth into the open left corner.
Deanna Messner (Willow Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood) tallied her eighth shutout of the season, fourth in a row, with a two-save performance.
Peshkin finished up with six stops for the Griffins.
