Women’s Soccer Drops Nonconference Road Affair to LIU Post on Wednesday

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) women's soccer team (2-2) fell to the LIU Post Pioneers (4-0) by a final of 3-0 in New York on Wednesday evening.

The Pioneers controlled their home turf in the loss for the Rams. LIU Post led shots 26-2, including 13-1 on goal.

Jefferson's two shots came from freshman Meredith Lapen towards the end of the first half, which was blocked by a LIU Post defender, and from senior Alexandria Reyes near the end of regulation, which was saved.

LIU Post scored its first goal in the 12th minute by Alice Schonfeldt off a corner opportunity to take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Two second-half goals gave the Pioneers the 3-0 lead and victory. In the 66th minute, Andrea Huntziner scored before Schonfeldt notched her second of the match in the 82nd minute.

Jefferson junior keeper Erin Tinneny made 10 saves in goal across the first 86:54 minutes before freshman Arielle Marcum made her collegiate debut and relieved her for the final 3:06.
