Women's Tennis Ends Season in 5-0 Loss at NCAA Tournament
Waltham, MA- The Philadelphia University Lady Rams (17-7, 7-0 CACC) dropped a NCAA East Regional Tournament match 5-0 to the Concordia College Clippers (15-2, 6-0 ECC) on Friday evening to end their 2008-09 campaign. The Lady Rams highlighted the year with a CACC Team Championship and ‘Player of the Year' honor.
The Clippers took an early 3-0 lead after sweeping doubles action, including a come-from-behind 8-6 win at #3 over the PhilaU sophomore team of Adriana Rodriguez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/ Colegio Sagrados Corzones) and Daniela Rodriguez (Quito, Ecuador/ Colegio Manor).
In singles, #1 A. Rodriguez was downed first-6-0, 6-0 by CC's C. Oliveira and sophomore Brittany Villa (Logan, NJ/ Kingsway Regional) fell to CC's Maria Ortiz 6-1, 6-2 to finalize the 5-0 shutout for Concordia.
