Womens Tennis Gets Second Win in a Row
Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University women's tennis team got their second win in a row, defeating Shippensburg University 9-0 on Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Rams started things off by sweeping the doubles competition, giving up just four games. Sophomores Adriana "A-Rod" Rodriguez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Colegio Sagrados Corazones) and Daniela Rodriguez (Quito, Ecuador/Colegio Menor) dominated their opponents 8-0, while Christina Brzozowski (Wallingford, CT/Sacred Heart Academy) and Stephanie Reinke (St. James, NY/Smithtown) took their second doubles match 8-3.
Freshmen Brittany Villa (Logan, NJ/Kingsway Regional) and Alex Dunham (Southampton, NY/Southampton) also won at third doubles 8-1.
Singles all swept to seal the victory as A. Rodriguez won 6-1, 6-1, and D. Rodriguez won 6-1, 6-3. At third singles Brzozowski won 6-1, 6-2, #4 Reinke won 6-0, 6-0, #5 Villa won 6-1, 6-1 and sophomore Sarah Harris (West Chester, PA/ West Chester East) won 6-4, 6-2.
The Lady Rams will travel to La Salle on Tuesday, September 16th at 3:30 p.m.
