Rodriguezs' Advance In Day One of ITA Regionals
Philadelphia, PA- In the first day of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Women's East Regional Tournament at Chestnut Hill College, both sophomores- #1 seeded Adriana Rodriguez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Colegio Sagrados Corazones) and #10 seeded Daniela Rodriguez (Quito, Ecuador/Colegio Menor) -advanced in both singles and doubles competition. Both will play 9 a.m. matches tomorrow (Saturday, September 20th.
In singles D. Rodriguez advanced with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Holy Family's Lui, and A. Rodriguez took her contest in a hard-fought 7-6, 6-3 victory over Bentley College's Gilbride. Freshman Christina Brzozowski (Wallingford, CT/Sacred Heart Academy) fell in her singles match 10-6 to Queen's College's Mocodaenu.
In doubles, the #5 seeded Rodriguez team has a bye and will advance to play a Bentley College team tomorrow. Doubles partners Brzozowski and sophomore Stephanie Reinke (St. James, N.Y./Smithtown) fell in the first round of competition 8-6 to the Goldey-Beacom team of Souto and Pereira.
