Womens Tennis Drops Opener 5-4 vs. Cabrini
Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University women's tennis team (0-1, 0-0 CACC) opened the 2010 season Wednesday afternoon, falling 5-4 to Cabrini College (4-0) at the Abraham J. Salaman'58 Courts.
The Lady Rams scored "W's" in singles from #1 freshman Isabella Espinosa (Quito, Ecuador/ The American School of Quito) def. Cabrini’s Katie Kennedy 5-7, 6-1, 10-4 and #2 senior Daniela Rodriguez (Quito, Ecuador/ Colegio Menor) def. Gabriela Durand 1-0. The match was halted after one game when Durand left the match with an injury. PhilaU’s third singles win came as #3 junior Brittney Villa (Logan Township, NJ/ Kingsway H.S.) def. Alexis DiCamillo 7-6, 6-3.
In doubles, the #1 team of Espinosa/Villa defeated Cabrini’s Kennedy/Durand 9-7.
PhilaU returns to action on Saturday (9/11) at Kutztown University at 12:00 p.m.
