PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Philadelphia University women's tennis team came away with a 6-3 victory over visiting Georgian Court in a non-conference match Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Rams (11-8) opened the match with wins in two of the three doubles matches.
Brittany Villa and Isabella Espinosa earned the first point with an 8-1 win in the No. 2 flight over Victoria Gaffney and Sarah Lockenmeyer. Olivia Amato and Magill Kurts teamed up to earn an 8-1 win against Marian Rosado and Maria Antimisiaris in the No. 3 match.
Espinosa recorded Philadelphia's third point after picking up a 6-1, 6-1 win in No. 1 singles against Maria Leal. Sylvia Bennicelli took Rosado 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 6 flight. Stephanie Reinke secured the match after defeating Tatiana Villariny-Rodriguez in the No. 3 match, 6-3, 6-0.
Villa was also a winner for the Lady Rams, 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 2 match over Gaffney.
Philadelphia closes out its 2011-12 season with a home match against Queens (N.Y.) Friday, April 6 at 3:30 p.m.
