Head Coach Marty Gilbert

Head Coach Marty Gilbert, who has guided the Philadelphia University men's tennis team for eleven seasons and the women's tennis squad for the past ten years, returns for the 2007-08 campaign. Last year, Gilbert's Lady Rams placed second in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championships and notched an overall mark of 15-8, going 5-1 in CACC regular-season dual matches.  The men's team, meanwhile, ended 2006-07 with a record of 6-11.

Coach Gilbert has a career winning percentage of .688 with the women's program, a superb 128-58. This includes a 16-2 performance in 1999 that culminated with the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference (NYCAC) Championship.  Under Gilbert, the Rams' men have compiled a 92-95 record, including a 13-win 1999 season that stands as the most in school history.

Prior to coaching at Philadelphia University, Gilbert accumulated 73 wins as the head men's coach at Haverford College from 1973 through 1980, against just 36 losses.  Gilbert then served as the national coach and director of the Israel Tennis Center in Jaffa/Tel Aviv, Israel, from 1987-1996.  In addition, Gilbert was named the U.S. Junior Coach for the 2005 Maccabiah Games in Israel.

As a player himself, Marty Gilbert posted a career record of 33-1 at Temple University, earning All-ECAC honors.  He was inducted into the Owls' Hall of Fame in 1986.
