Women’s track comes in 10th at CTC Championship

LAKEWOOD, N.J. – The Philadelphia University women's track team posted a 10th place finish at the Collegiate Track Conference Championship hosted by Georgian Court University on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

The Rams posted a team score of 20 points in the 20-team track and field championship. St. Peters was the team champion with a score of 185.

Freshman Alyssa Litty (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) got the Rams off to a strong start on Friday night with a runner-up finish in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 41 minutes, 33.05 seconds. It was Litty's first time running the 10,000.

In Saturday's 5,000-meter run, sophomore Taylor Falvey (York, Pa./York) turned in a bronze medal finish after completing the race in 18:55.75. Freshman Courtney Lafferty (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) set the school record for the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:556.95. Lafferty came home fifth.

The 4x800-meter relay team scored points with a seventh-place time of 11:32.90. The team consisted of freshman Emilie Barton (Sterling, Ill./Newman Central Catholic), freshman Clarissa Kelsey (Columbus, N.J./Northern Burlington), sophomore Caitlin Vanleer (Ivyland, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) and junior Christina Wetzel (Littleton, Mass./Nashoba Valley Tech).

Philadelphia's 4x400-meter relay team will race in the CTC Championship at the Penn Relays on Thursday, April 25.
