CHESTER, Pa. – The Philadelphia University women's track team opened the 2015 season at the Danny Curran Invitational, hosted by Widener University.
The Invitational started for the Rams on Friday night with Taylor Falvey (York, Pa./York Catholic), Emilie Barton (Sterling, Ill./Newman Central Catholic), and Alyssa Litty (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) participating in the 5,000-meter run. Falvey led the Philadelphia effort with a 10th-place time of 18:54.07. Barton was the 11th-place finisher (18:57.88) and Litty came in 21st (19:41.10).
The Rams opened the Saturday portion of the event with the 1,500-meter run. Jessica Thies (Reading, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) posted a time of 5:23.13 to claim the 35th position in the 100-runner field. Erin Raup (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) crossed the finish line in 5:31.69 to come in 46th. Victoria Frisbie (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) came in 51st with a time of 5:33.36.
Thies, Raup, Frisbie, and Victoria Carchietta (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) all took part in the 800-meter run. Raup was the Rams' top finisher with the 23rd-place time of 2:33.92. Thies had the 25th best time of 2:36.43, while Frisbie ran the race in 2:43.79 to finish 49th. Carchietta was 75th with a time of 3:07.58.
Chelsea Love (Crooksville, Ohio/Crooksville) participated in the 100- and 200-meter dash. She was 36th in the 100 with a time of 14.24 and 61st in the 200 after crossing the line in 30.27.
Courtney Lafferty (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) took part in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, coming in second with a time of 13:35.75.
Philadelphia heads to William & Mary to compete in the Colonial Relay on April 2.
