Women’s track takes sixth at CTC Championship

GLASSBORO, N.J. – The Philadelphia University women's track team recorded a sixth-place finish at the Collegiate Track Conference Championship at Rowan University on Saturday.

In their first scored meet of the season, the Rams recorded 45 points in the 10-team event, won by Rowan with a score of 211.5.

Philadelphia had a strong showing in the 5,000-meter run with three runners scoring points. Taylor Falvey (York, Pa./York Catholic) won the race with a time of 19:39.10—17.36 seconds ahead of the second place runner. Emilie Barton (Sterling, Ill./Newman Central Catholic) finished the race in 20:17.18 to take third. Kaitlin Beckham (Gettysburg, Pa./Fairfield Area) posted the fifth-place time of 23:00.15.

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, Courtney Lafferty (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena) posted her second-best time of the season, 13:02.41, to take third in the event.

Alyssa Litty (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee) competed in the 10,000-meter run for the first time this season and took fourth on Saturday with a time of 42:12.21. Erin Raup (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) ran her best time of the year in the 800-meter run after completed the event in 2:29.03 to come in sixth.

Jessica Thies (Reading, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) and Victoria Frisbie (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 1,500-meter run. Thies posted a personal best in the event with a time of 5:11.02, while Frisbie put up a time of 5:20.42, a season best.

The 4x800-meter relay team of Thies, Frisbie, Raup, and Falvey came in third, stopping the clock in 10:31.17.

Philadelphia will compete at the Penn Relays on Friday, April 24 at Franklin Field.
