CHESTER, Pa. – The Philadelphia University women's track team fought through a constant rainfall on Saturday to compete in the Widener Invitational at Widener University.
Despite the less than ideal conditions, numerous Rams went on to set season and personal bests.
After setting the record in the 100-meter high hurdles a week ago, Victoria Hochuli (Rockville, Centre, N.Y./Oceanside) managed to push her record even lower as she crossed the finish line in 16.46 seconds for a 17th-place finish. Hochuli also ran the 400-meter hurdles in 1 minute, 12.83 seconds to take 20th.
Three Rams recorded the fastest time of their career in the 1,500-meter run. Erin Young (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Archbishop Wood) completed the race in 5:09.36 to finish 37th in the race. Meghan Horan (Honey Brook, N.Y./Twin Valley) finished just over a second behind Young with the 40th-place time of 5:10.75. Nicole Stough (York, Pa./West York) was 54th after crossing the finish line in 5:21.02. Erin Raup (Danville, Pa./Danville Area) ran her best time of 2017 as she posted a 5:40.57 to end up in 71st.
Horan and Stough went on to set personal bests in the 800-meter run. Horan completed the race in 2:34.17, while Stough recorded a 2:36.23 to take 50th and 54th, respectively. Young was the first Philadelphia finisher in the 800 with the 39th place time of 2:31.22.
Rachel Meier (Middlebury, Conn./Pomperaug) posted the best time of her career in the 200 and 400-meter dashes. Meier came in 38th with a time of 28.60 in the 200 and 36th in the 400 with a time of 1:04.64.
Alexandra Noll (Brockport, N.Y./Notre Dame-Batavia) had a personal-best time of 15.16 seconds to finish in the 49th position.
Running in the 5,000-meter run for the first time this season, Gypsy Blue Cooper (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) had a time of 22:26.29, good for 63rd place.
Philadelphia will run in the Collegiate Track Conference 4x400-meter relay at the Penn Relays on Thursday, April 27 at 7:20 p.m.
