PhilaU Shows Up Holy Family 3-0 in Volleyball
Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University volleyball team (26-5, 14-2 CACC) picked up a 3-0 conference win in a city battle over Holy Family University (12-19, 9-7 CACC) on Thursday night. Senior defensive specialist Cindy Adams (Fleetwood, PA/ Fleetwood) led her squad with seven kills and 10 digs.
Set scores were: 25-21, 25-23 and 25-14.
The Lady Rams battled through three close sets, as they finally broke away in the third and final set to end the match 3-0.
Senior right-side hitter Nicole Berkstresser (Bridgewater, NJ/ Raritan-Bridgewater) and freshman middle-hitter Ellie Edgar (Cuyahoga Falls, OH/ Cuyahoga Falls) added six kills each on the night.
Junior setter Lauren Hoover (New Baltimore, MI/ Anchor Bay) tallied 13 set assists, while sophomore setter Adrienne Stigura (Reading, PA/ Reading Central) picked up nine digs.
HFU was led by Katie Hornback who contributed 17 kills and six digs.
The Lady Rams return to action on Monday (11/2) vs. Nyack at 7:00 p.m. at the Gallagher Athletic Center.
