Head Coach Mark Magarity

Head Coach Mark Magarity enters his eighth year in 2011 at the helm of the Philadelphia University volleyball team.

Magarity has transformed the PhilaU women's volleyball team into a regional force since being hired in July of 2004.

In 2010, the PhilaU volleyball team (19-9, 16-3 CACC) wrapped up the season in a hard-fought CACC Semifinal loss in early November, 3-1 to #1 north seed and eventual CACC champion Caldwell College.  Two of Margarity's players earned All-Conference honors, including a 'Rookie of the Year' award.

The 2009 season saw a continuation of the winning tradition Magarity has created as his PhilaU squad went 32-6, making it to the CACC Championship match for the second consecutive year.  The squad finished as runners-up.

In 2008 Magarity led the Lady Rams to the CACC Championship match and a 21-13 overall record, 14-4 CACC.  The PhilaU squad finished as 2008 CACC Championship runners-up.

In 2007, Magarity directed the Lady Rams to a 22-15 overall mark, and 15-3 in the CACC.  In postseason action, the Lady Rams fell in the CACC Quarterfinals to Holy Family.

In 2006, the Lady Rams finished 25-4 overall, 15-1 in the CACC.  The squad finished as CACC regular-season champions, and were CACC Tournament runners-up.

The 2005 campaign set a school-record as Margarity's team went 30-5 overall in the team's first season in the CACC.  The team earned the program's first-ever postseason invitation in with its bid to the ECAC Division II Women's Volleyball Tournament, where the Lady Rams defeated LIU-C.W. Post for the title.

In Magarity's inaugural season in 2004, his squad went 17-13, 2-9 NYCAC.  In his seven seasons at the head of the program, Magarity has led Philadelphia University to a 166-65 record.

A long-time employee of the University, Magarity took over the Lady Rams' program after a highly-successful eight-year stint as an assistant with Mount St. Joseph Academy in Flourtown, Pa.  This included a 109-29 overall mark in eight seasons including four PIAA District I semifinal berths.  In his final season with Mount St. Joseph, Magarity helped guide the team to the district quarterfinals before bowing out against eventual PIAA state qualifier Ridley High School.

Prior to coaching at Mount St. Joseph, Magarity served as an assistant coach at Bishop McDevitt High School for two seasons as well as serving as the coordinator/coach of the Outsiders VBC, a highly-regarded club team in the Philadelphia area.

Magarity resides in the Mt. Airy section of Philadelphia and is married to his wife Joyce.  They have three children: Jennifer, Johnathan and Amy (all three are PhilaU graduates).  Jennifer also played and coached with her father at PhilaU.
