Phila. U. Runners Top Belmont Classic Charts
Head Coach Dave
Thomas' Philadelphia University cross country runners
stole the show in the Belmont Classic Invitational Meet, as both
the men's and women's team finished in first place. The men
were tops among twenty teams, while the women shared top honors
with CACC rival Wilmington College; both among the sixteen teams
present. Sophomore Shawn D'Andrea paced the Rams,
finishing in second place over the 8,000 meter course in a time of
27:40.47. Joining D'Andrea in the top ten overall was fellow
sophomore Andrew
Piotrowski, who clocked a time of 28:08.01 for seventh
position.
On the women's side, true freshman Cassie Cohick
once again led the charge for the Lady Rams, with a time of
20:37.90 for the 5,000 meter Belmont Plateau, good for ninth place;
while sophomore Faith
Anderson came home in 13th place with a time of
21:08.00. The cross country teams resume competition next
Saturday on the road at the Goldey-Beacom Invitational, hosted by
CACC foe Goldey-Beacom College. That meet takes place at
Carousel Park in Wilmington, Del., and gets underway at 10:30 a.m.
